The first time you light your candle, you want to be sure to continue burning until the top layer of wax has liquefied all the way to the edges of the vessel. This will create a burn memory and helps to avoid tunnelling to ensure that you are getting the most efficient and cost effective burn from your candle.
Trim your wick before every burn to around 5mm to encourage an even burn -this is best done with a pair of wick trimmers.
If your candles flame is too high or flickering, extinguish your candle, trim the wick and re-light.
If your candles flame is too small, pour out any excess wax and re-light. This may need to be repeated more than once depending on the length of your wick.
Do not burn your candle for longer than four hours at a time. Exceeding this four hour limit could possibly result in over heating of the vessel which may in turn crack.
Use a wick dipper or candle snuffer to put out your candle to avoid blowing melted wax a black soot around your mason jar or milk bottle.
If black soot does appear simply wipe it away with a dry paper cloth when the candle is not lit and the vessel is cool.
Always burn your candle on a heat resistant surface away from drafts, children & Pets.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Following these tips will encourage a longer and cleaner burn and help to maintain the original look of your candle.
